This project is about developing the asset management information system. In context to this, the project manager is facing issues regarding management of the time and standards which are needed by the BCG Construction firm. The primary objective of this project is to enhance the strategic direction of the engineering company and development of the active communication among the employees. The project will help in improving the interaction between the employees and with the customers through an online platform. However, the level of difficulty of this project is high as it includes various sub system and functions which can influence the quality, approach and completion of the project (Ghaffari and Emsley, 2015). It is a crucial part of the manager to balance all the activities and operations of the company with the standards and processes of the information system. Another essential factor of this project is security and safety as usage of online platform increases the chances of losing sensitive and confidential information of the BCG Constructions which is not suitable for its development and success. Along with this, the continuous changes and alterations within the technology are impacting on the effectiveness and quality of the project management strategy and approach. With respect to this, the project team members are working hard on analyzing the particular functions of the firm with respect to the present project. These functions will result to develop the effective plan for delivering the sustainable and active asset management information system to the BCG Construction company. For instance, any change in the software requirements will lead to affect the scope and development of the project (Pitsis and et.al., 2014).

Apart from this, future problems in the asset management information system will include design and testing of the functions as per the need and demand of the company and use of the software. Project Manager needs to analyses every step of the project accurately for avoiding any problem as it can result to increase the time and cost of the project completion. Moreover, the lack of skilled employees and training to the workers will also be one of the major problems for the BCG Construction’s present project. For example, lack of proper information about the information system can lead to the time delay for the project (Badewi and Shehab, 2016).

Project B:

The objective of this project is the development of the remote area for the BCG construction for increasing its effectiveness in managing the coordination with the stakeholders. The company handles the engineering work processes and operations, and for this, development of the remote area will be its one of the practical decisions. The remote area will make firm to manage its services and activities properly via virtual assistance which will lead to achieving all goals and objectives efficiently. The company is facing some issues in managing and handling this project. The problems include the high exchange rate, continuous changes within the schedule of tasks and contribution of the stakeholders. Along with this, there is lack of proper documentation of the project processes by the team members which are affecting the strategies for implementing the changes within the specific areas for handling the problems effectively. Training and use of technology can help project manager and team members in treating the issues and reducing the complexity level of the project (Popaitoon and Siengthai, 2014).

For instance, lack of documentation of the project operations is creating a problem for the team members in getting updates about the present condition of the project which is affecting its quality. Apart from this, in the upcoming 20 years, the project manager of the BCG Constructions can face problems with respect to cost management due to the increasing prices or the resources and upgrading technology (Eskerod and Vaagaasar, 2014).

Project C:

This project depends upon the design and implementation of the infrastructure within the BCG Construction firm for increasing the business and handling it’s both internal and external activities. The project is facing some problems like lack of involvement of the stakeholders and lack of information about the rules and regulations to the project team members. Along with this, the cost of the employees and technical resources is enhancing which is affecting the feasibility of the project. Due to these reasons, the project manager is facing problem in finishing the critical project on time and in the estimated cost (Kerzner, 2015). On the other hand, lack of proper supply chain management is also affecting the progress and quality of the project. In context to this, due to the increasing cost of labor, cost of the project is also enhancing which is affecting the overall cost estimation of the BCG Construction firm. Design and implementation of the infrastructure need the use of practical project management approach. With respect to this, the project manager will have to use effective strategies for completing the project on time without increasing the cost. For example, it will be difficult for the project manager to manage the increasing cost of labor so it will be better to develop and maintain the standards in the design and development of the infrastructure (Cavanagh, 2017).

Future Problems and Challenges Faced by the Projects

It has been found that all the projects of the BCG Construction company are facing some issues which need to be handled expertly by making some changes. The impacts of changes in the engineering project implementation and delivery process are as follows:

Project A

The project manager needs to overcome the issues of project A for achieving the desired objectives. In context to this, the project manager should develop a plan for developing and implementing the asset information management system for the BCG Construction company. Firstly, the project team needs proper communication and coordination among each other for sharing information and working together for accomplishing the similar objectives. Active communication among the team members will also maintain the quality of the project. The cooperative, open, friendly and highly interactive working environment will lead to executing the plan more appropriately in a professional manner. It is required to have a proper analysis of the changes and determination of a particular program for handling and managing all the tasks of the project (Korhonen, Laine and Martinsuo, 2014). This will increase the transparency and help all the stakeholders in understanding their role in planning the activities accordingly. Apart from this, the project manager and team members need to use Agile Project Management Methodology for completing the project on time and by following all the standards. This approach will lead to standardization of the tasks and integration of the sub system for controlling the problems faced by the project. Thus, it is clear that by making some changes within the project management plan of the project, project manager and project team can develop and implement the project by maintaining the quality at every step and following all the necessary standards. This will enhance the chances of finishing the asset management information system on determined time and in the estimated cost by using excellent resources (Aloini and et.al., 2015).

Project B:

As this project is facing the major issue of improper scheduling and lack of contribution of the stakeholders, the project manager needs to create a proper schedule of all the operations effectively. The manager of the company also needs to allocate budget to the project team for managing all the tasks and progress of the project. Along with the personal and professional benefits of the project to BCG Construction, it is also necessary to have social and environmental benefits. Improper integration of the project can result to affect its deliverables and services which can only manage the development of the remote area (Ekrot, Kock and Gemünden 2016). For the current plan, BCG Construction has ordered specialized components from the international suppliers. This order was made by the company three months before for overcoming the delay in supply of the products and services which is affecting the quality and completion period of the project. With respect to this, the project manager of the firm needs to interact with the suppliers for identifying the delay in supplying the raw materials. For this issue, use of Just In Time process for ordering the raw material will be useful and beneficial for both firm and project manager. Along with this, usage of the technical tools for handling all the operations will lead to decrease the cost of labor and enhance the quality of the project development of remote area services. One of the major issues is lack of communication with the supplier, and it is influencing the integration of all the operations of the project. The project manager needs to work on the areas which are facing problems and creating barriers to the completion of the project. Effective changes will help the project manager to finish the project on time and accomplish the desired objectives (Blomquist, Farashah and Thomas,  2016).

Project C

The problems facing this project of the firm includes improper consideration of the environmental standards and lack of involvement of the stakeholders. These issues are creating a delay in the completion of the project which is affecting its cost and satisfaction level of the BCG Construction firm. Firstly, the project manager needs to engage all the stakeholders within the plan for managing and implementing the project. By assigning roles and responsibilities to the stakeholders, the manager will able to manage and control its all project activities effectively. Along with this, stakeholder mapping will help in understanding and analyze the needs and desires of the stakeholders (Conforto and Amaral, 2016). This will result in the development of a suitable strategy for increasing the contribution and involvement in the development and management of the project. Having competent and robust communication among the stakeholders is necessary. This will enhance the efficiency, quality, and performance of the work. With respect to this, stakeholder communication matrix is one of the effective methods which project manager can use for controlling the project problems and decreasing the risks. Apart from this, project manager and team members will have to manage and control the changes within the project as per the conditions of the environment and impact of the society. For this, the traditional approach is one of the appropriate decisions of the project manager. The coherence of the traditional method with the advance technical resources will result to accomplish the desired goals (Hoda and Murugesan, 2016).  

Project management requires broad skills and knowledge for completing the tasks by meeting all the requirements of the customers. In the entire projects of BCG Construction firm, the role and responsibility of the project manager are vital. The project manager needs to develop a plan, analyze the requirements, select the suitable approach, identify the risk or problems, chose the best operations for managing the activities and achieving the pre-defined objectives for the client (Basu, 2017). In context to this, the skill of manager includes risk assessment, project management, project development and effective communication with both team members and stakeholders. These skills of the project manager have helped firm in handling the issues and reducing their negative impact on the quality of the project. Apart from this, the project manager has enough experience and knowledge which aware him or her about the uncertainty in the project and for controlling this uncertainty, project manager always has some alternate strategies or options. Along with this, time management, cost management and resource management skills of the manager lead to complete the project on time within the estimated cost by utilizing the optimum resources. The proper guidance and monitoring of the work of project team members also help in maintaining the quality and performance of the project (Jalal and Koosha, 2015).

Strategies for Enhancing Project Management and Overcoming Challenges

In large projects, it is essential to have proper risk management, and strategy development approaches for finishing the project as per the need and demand of the client. The practical skills of the project manager of managing the operations, making the necessary changes and taking decisions for the improvement of the project leads to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the project tasks and final deliverables according to the decided standards. On the other hand, technical knowledge and skills also play a vital role in the work management of the project manager. Synchronization of the technology with the quality work performance of the team member, result to provide desired outcomes in an effective manner. Knowledge about the project management methodology, approaches, etc. like PRINCE Model, Waterfall model, agile framework, development of the network diagram, etc. helps project manager in using right strategy as per the need of the project (Frijns, Van Leeuwen and Bierwolf, 2017).

From the above study, it is concluded that all the three projects are facing some problems which is affecting their quality, cost and time. Major objective of BCG Construction firm is to consider project cost and risk for accomplishing the desired goals.
