Research Paper

Students will write a paper based solely on research on a topic you choose, based on a court or evidence issue. The research paper must be 3-5
pages typed, following APA or MLA style and should be in Times New Roman, 12-pt font with 1-inch margins. Topic must be related to this course
in some way, with a specific topic based on research. Three references are required from reliable sources (not news, Wikipedia, blogs, etc.),
with at least one being from a peer-reviewed scholarly source.
Students can choose the topic and have wide latitude in the subject, but it must be related to courts or evidence and based on research, and have
details such as findings, recommendations, or results. Simply describing an organization or process is not adequate research. The textbook cannot
be used as a primary source, and the topic, chosen by the student, must not specifically be about a courts or evidence subject or reading
assignment summary subject they have already chosen for another class assignment in this course (no overlapping subjects by the same student in
multiple assignments). The goal is to conduct research on a topic and present your findings, not opinions or simply repeating a review of an
organization or a historical event. For example, I might choose to write about DNA evidence and expert witnesses in a trial court.
