I’m working on a history discussion question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
Because mercantilism and the empires it created were global, problems in one part of an empire could affect other parts very dramatically, even if those other parts had nothing to do with the original problem. With regard to the American colonies, a prime example of this were the problems experienced by the British East India Company in the 1760s and 70s. There was one problem in particular that the BEIC had. What was that, and why did it affect both Britain and the American colonies?
