hot topics about innovation related to Google

Google is an American multinational organization that started its operation in 1998 at California in USA under the parent organization Alphabet. The present CEO of Google is Sundar Pichai who has helped to remodel the biggest online search platform of the web. The company has undergone a number of innovations in the recent years that has helped the organization reach the destination that it has reached in recent years (Schumpeter 2017).. The three innovations that can be related to Google is as follows

  • Google can come up with an innovative reading device that will be catered to the searchings and readings of the Google books and articles. This can be a good competition to their main competitors Amazon Kindle and can be helpful for researchers and associates related to academics (Hussain et al. 2017).
  • Another innovation that Google can come up with is a device that can be fitted to the cars for tracking the maps and performing the other services that the Google Assistant provides. The whole concept of using mobile phones while travelling can be renovated by this concept as it will perform all the tasks by voice command (Dirk 2018).
  • The third innovation that Google can come up with is the introducing better mapping satellites so that the abruptness of the maps that is faced by the customers can be wrapped up and the customers can experience better view of the maps on their phones.

An idea for an innovative product or service based on the goals and portfolio management for Google

The idea for an innovative product that can be based upon the goals and portfolio management for Google is the introduction of Google Books reader that can be a stark competition to their arch rivals Amazon and can cater to the tastes to the people who love to read and have some fruitful knowledge about a subject (Davies 2014). Google books is a storehouse of all sorts of journals and articles, written by academicians, which is again one of the biggest source for scholars and students all over the world. With the introduction of such a kind of E-book reader, Google can impress their customers all over the world and can make sure that none of their loyal customers can opt for the product of their rivals in makings sure that their customer base remains intact. The innovative product can give not only services related to E-books but can also provide services that Google offers like maps and even search engine so that it can be an all-in-one solution for the people on the way. The people who do not want to invest in the phones that is manufactured and marketed by Google can invest in this simple yet useful device and make their whole experience of new surfing something worth looking for.

Innovation will be streamlined with the Google’s current capabilities

The innovation can be streamlined with the current capabilities of Google as the brand need not invest in the innovation of any new in the whole process. There are a number of people in the world who are obsessed about surfing the internet and finding books online and reading them in their free times. Google can target this population group and make sure that they are interested in the materials provided by Google. In addition, in this invention, Google need not invent any more sources to give their readers anything more though there is always a huge scope for updating the whole source. The capability of Google is huge in terms of resources and being the biggest online search engine in the world web at the moment, they are not deficit in any sorts of sources and resources which again can be utilised in making the whole innovation a success. The company can make sure that some of the articles and journals that are most popular among the customers are made paid, are exclusive to the new reader invented by Google so that the customers can find interest in buying the reader at their own expense, and be satisfied with the experience. The option, if not exclusive to the reader who is purchasing the reader would not be a success, as the reader would not find anything to invest in.

Streamlining Innovation with Google’s Capabilities

Depicting the innovation

The whole innovation will include a reader that can be handy and carried at any place without a hassle. The size of the reader will be a big factor in the whole innovation process as a compact device will make sure that the customers do not face any hassle in carrying it with them whenever they go. Moreover, the reader should be processed in such a way so that the books and journals can be saved offline and downloaded without using the internet. In this way, the customers can use the device in their travels and even use it on flights or long journeys when most of the people tend to get involved in some sorts of activity related to pleasure and fun. Another feature that can be done by Google in the innovation is to include the option of video viewing and film downloads. YouTube, which is again a part of Google, can be included in the whole process and can be made a partner (Drucker 2014). Some of the videos and movies on YouTube can be made exclusive to the new reader and can be made free over there so that the customers investing in the whole process gets to feel exclusive and possess some extra advantages than normal users.

User involvement

The user will be involved to a great extent in the overall innovation process. Google can send overviews of the latest innovation to their customers via E-mails and messages and can also take their suggestions in including more features in the device. The user can also be said to get involved in the overall process by making sure that the customer needs are fulfilled in the overall innovative process (Astuti Napitupulu, Van Riel and Sasovova 2017). The involvement of the user is again useful in the process as without the involvement, the overall results of the innovation will be termed null as customers satisfaction is the end result of any innovative process that is done by any brand.

Fast Integration – Time, Cost, Resources

Every innovation in the world is associated with three factors namely time required to execute innovation, cost of innovation and resources needed for the innovation technique. In the innovation stated, all the three factors are needed at optimal level to conduct the innovation of the new reader from Google. The time required for the innovation is to be reduced as much as possible as keeping the cost of the innovation to the bare minimum (Agarwal et al. 2016). The time required for the whole process should be given to research and development of the project and to make sure what are the journals and articles that are among the most favourite of the customers. The resources needed for the whole process can be utilised from the Google pages and articles already included in the search engine. The time of the innovation can be made according to the needs and requirements of the readers and their potential customers. The cost required is to make the required research and then invent a reader that can operate both online and offline giving ample scope for the readers as well as the viewers to enjoy the advantages of the whole innovation (Nie and Yang 2015).

Body of Report

Prototyping and testing capabilities

Prototyping of any product can be defined as the initial stage of software release that is to be used in the developmental discourse of the product in future (Exner et al. 2015). The prototyping of the product can be done at an initial stage where the software can be installed in the phones of the some selected employees and they can give their views and opinions on the same after using the software for some initial days. The pros and cons of the software can be asked by the organization and developers and can be changed according to the plans. The testing capabilities of the software can also be made on question and so it can be done according to the needs and requirements of the potential customers. The reader and the developer of the new innovation is supposed to work together to make a sustainable innovation process that can be acted upon by the developers and owners of the innovative reader.

Cross-functional management

The cross-functional management is defined as a group who are a part of management employees working to strive one common goal within an organization. These people can come from any group or team like finance, marketing or management and can work together in the sustainance of a single goal (Thomas and Peterson 2017). All the employees of a single organization are part of the cross-functional management groups that are related to the development of the new innovative techniques.

The management team that is being employed in the cross-functional management of the development of the new reader by Google includes the finance team, research team, content team and most importantly the marketing team. Each team has their own set of functions that can be useful for the innovation of the product and also in the sustenance of the same. The finance team can be useful for making the overall budget and finance of the innovation product. At every outset, a detailed plan for the finance and cost should be  made so that the overall cost at the end remains at the basic. The research team needs to be employed to make sure that all the customer demands and suggestions should be made applicable in the innovation. Moreover, the content team can be applied to the task to discrete the contents that need to be inside the app and should be made exclusive to the reader. The role of the content team is to disintegrate the contents that are most popular among the customers and some of the new contents and videos from YouTube that can be made exclusive for the reader. The role of the marketing team is one of the most pivotal in any innovation process including this one. The marketeer team will make sure that the product which is being innovated with all zeal, efforts reach the customers and potential clients, and for that the effective marketing strategies should be implemented. The marketing strategies that can be introduced by the marketeers includes the innovative processes of social media marketing and also online marketing using all the means of digital media.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it can be said that Google can innovate a number of products and services though the biggest online search engine holds the credit for a number of innovations already in the past decade. The company along with the new and innovative features of the innovation can make sure to reach more number of audiences who can be their potential customers in the future. The future innovations that can be done by the company based upon and affecting the current innovative idea can be traced to making a movie store for the customers who are interested in downloading and seeing movies offline. Also, the company can introduce a number of other innovations like Google Glass and Google E-book audio that can be applied to the people who are visually impaired. The device can also help many people who do not know how to read a particular language just by hearing the audio. Even the feature of songs can be introduced in the new innovation so that the whole process can be an all-in-one reading device that will be one of the toughest devices to reckon with in the face of stark competition from Amazon. The device will make sure to incorporate all the features of Amazon Kindle yet have their own touch of uniqueness that will serve something more to their existing customers and attract new customers in the longer run.
