Social workers are people who by profession aim to make the overall health of the citizens much better and also aid in satisfying the need of the community, whether those needs are simple or complex. All the social workers work with different types of people all over the community but they are specifically concerned with the people who are oppressed or are living in dire poverty or even can be vulnerable (Thompson 2016). There are many sectors or opportunities where a social worker can work, for example, the social worker can be in the field of education, or the social work can revolve around medical issues and psychiatric issues, even it may be criminology or correctional social work, or urban and rural community development, or industrial social work, gerontology, social advocacy, disability, policy, and planning, or it may even be research-oriented. Social injustices occur everywhere. Social workers are specially trained to work to overcome such injustices and the barriers that impede the well-being of their target community. The social injustices and the barriers include aspects like poverty, discrimination, unemployment, and lack of housing. Often the social workers specialize in any one type of field and choose to socially help the people who are vulnerable in that kind of field. For example, a medical worker will focus on the diagnosis and treatment of mental, behavioral, and emotional problems but in the case of a social worker, will target the research and development for programs that are both small scale and large scale and mainly helps the community, for instance, Medicaid. In this paper, the focus will be on the interview which was conducted with a social worker who works in the field of criminology and correctional social work. A series of questions and answers are scripted in the paper of the interview which was conducted.

Q1. What are your responsibilities as a social worker?

A1. Social work is a profession that focuses on the welfare of an individual, family, group, or community. Social workers offer services to help people deal with many different types of problems. They may work with individuals, families, groups, or communities.

Social workers are often employed by governments and non-profit organizations. They can also be self-employed and work independently from a social service agency.

The responsibilities of a social worker vary depending on the setting they are working in and their level of experience.

Q1. What are your responsibilities as a social worker?

A2. My only commitment is to help the clients where corrections and justice is required the most. I mainly focus on the people who are in dire need of rehabilitation and can get much better hopes after coming out of rehab. I also help the clients solve disputes that are domestic and with clients who have suffered from trauma. Basically, I help the people who think that they can never come out of the trauma and enter into depression and also suffer from anxiety. They have to be put into correctional homes or rehabilitation to come out of the grave situation that they are in. It is not always easy for the sufferers to stay in rehab and correct themselves in an isolated situation. I interfere in these situations to improve their position.

Q3. Do you generally visit clients in their own homes?

A3. Yes, I do visit clients in their own homes when the situation so arises since my profession is to be a social worker. I help people irrespective of the places where they are or as a matter of fact where I am. The place is irrelevant to my service. I am aware of the fact that even if I visit the students in their houses, it can be way too risky and may involve many dangers it may also be emotionally draining for me but I am all ready to do it with confidence. It gives me the opportunity to understand the real situation of the clients and help them with the solution they are searching for. Many times, the clients have committed crimes but do not realize the fact they have done something wrong. These are situations when I even counsel them on the right path and make them understand that what they have done is not right. And one of my greatest strengths is that I can keep calm under high-pressure situations.

Q4. Why do you work with criminals? What intervention methods do you use?

A4. The criminal justice system is the formal process by which society deals with those who break its laws. The system is made up of various state, federal, and local agencies that work together to enforce the laws and protect society. I am a probation officer for juveniles who have been charged with a crime. My job is to supervise these juveniles as they go through their sentence, to make sure they do not commit any more crimes during their sentence period. I also provide them with aftercare once they are released from my supervision so that they can be successful in society again. The primary intervention methods used by me include narrative social work which includes focusing on the problems and treating them as actions that can be changed through positive behavior reinforcements. Another intervention method used by me to provide my clients with proper aftercare is the strengths-based as well as solution-focused approaches to providing social care to people (in this case juveniles). The intervention focuses on identifying the uniqueness of the clients to devise unique plans for them. I also use the task-centered social work intervention to enhance skill development.

I am interested in interviewing people who are involved in criminal activities because it is always interesting to see how they think and what their motivations are.

A6. The way you communicate with your clients is extremely important. It is not just about the words you use, but also the tone and the way you deliver them. In order to be a good copywriter, it is essential that you can empathize with your clients and maintain a professional level of belief in their product or service. You should be able to put yourself in your client’s shoes and understand what they are trying to sell. Empathy is key when it comes to copywriting because it helps you create content that resonates with your audience.

Q7. What were some of the benefits or disadvantages of interviewing your clients?

A7. Interviewing clients is a great way to understand their needs and identify the pain points. It was a great opportunity for me to learn more about my clients and their business.

The only disadvantage of interviewing your clients is that sometimes it can take up some of your time.

Q8. Have you ever felt threatened by your clients?

A8. In our business, we often have to deal with difficult clients. It is not uncommon for a client to ask for a refund because they are dissatisfied with the content written by the copywriter. But there is no need to feel threatened by this situation because it can be easily handled.

The best way to avoid these situations is to make sure that the client understands what they are paying for and what their expectations are before they hire you. This way, you can create a contract that will protect your interests and theirs too.

Copywriters should also be aware of how their clients behave so they know when they need help from other departments such as legal or customer service.

Q9. What is the most challenging part of your job and why?

A9. The most challenging part of my job is to be able to meet new cases or work on a tight schedule. The reason for this is that I am always juggling between different cases and projects which makes it hard for me to focus on one thing at a time. I also have to make sure that the quality of my service is not compromised because of the tight schedule.

Q10. What is the most rewarding part of your job and why?

A10. There is a lot of variety in the work I do. I am constantly learning new things and my job doesn’t feel monotonous. I get to meet new people every day and get to know them better.

Q11. How does a criminology social worker interview crime victims?

A11. A social worker’s primary responsibility is to empower crime victims by restoring their dignity and encouraging them to pursue the justice they deserve. Social workers work with law enforcement, criminal courts, the Department of Corrections, schools, and other social service agencies to provide holistic support for children, adults and families impacted by crime.

Q12. What are some of the best skills to have as a criminology social worker?

A12. There are many skills that criminology social worker needs to succeed in their profession. They need to be compassionate and be able to understand the thoughts and feelings of both the victim and the perpetrator of the crime. They should also have excellent communication skills, good people skills, great listening skills, a desire to help others, and an understanding of criminal behavior.

Q13. What should I avoid when interviewing a victim?

A13. When interviewing a victim, be sure not to ask questions about the incident, take a statement from them or promise confidentiality. These can be violating and can make the victim feel like they are being judged.

Q14. What are the goals of a social worker when working with criminals and their families?

A14. The goal of a social worker is to help the criminal and their family members to live a crime-free life.

The social worker will help the criminal with the following:

• -Identifying personal needs and interests
• -Providing information about community resources
• -Helping with education, employment, and housing needs
• -Providing counseling services

Q15. What advice do you have for people looking to become a social worker?

A15. Social work is a very rewarding profession. It is also a very challenging one. It requires dedication, patience, and empathy to be successful.

The next step is to get your degree in social work from an accredited institution and complete your field practicum hours at an agency or organization that you are interested in working with.

A16. It is not difficult to work with people who have committed crimes. All they need is a second chance and it’s up to the employer to give that chance.

Q17. What are some of the positives and negatives about working in this profession?

A17. Working as a copywriter can be very rewarding. It is a profession that has the potential to make you feel like you are making a difference in the world. However, it can also be tough and demanding.

There are many positives about working as a copywriter. One of the most obvious benefits is that you get to work in an industry that is constantly changing. You get to make your own hours, which can be great for those who have children or other responsibilities outside of work. You also have the opportunity to make good money if you are doing well in your career and are able to charge high rates for your services.

Negatives about being a copywriter include the fact that it can be difficult and demanding at times, which could lead some people to burn out if they don’t.

A18. A typical day for a copywriter starts with checking emails and social media. They then go to meetings where they pitch ideas, brainstorm and create content for the company. Copywriters can also work from home or in an office depending on their preference.

Q19. What is the biggest issue that you come across in your profession?

A19. The biggest issue that I come across in my profession is the lack of opportunity for growth. With more and more people entering the workforce, it has become increasingly difficult to find a job that provides opportunities for growth.

The second biggest issue is the lack of work-life balance. Most workplaces today don’t have a good work-life balance and it’s often hard to find a job that does provide this.

A20. Social workers are a vital part of the criminal justice system. They can provide support to people who have been traumatized by crime, and help them to rebuild their lives.

Social workers are also integral in helping victims of sexual violence navigate the criminal justice system. They can provide support for those with mental illness or substance abuse issues, as well as for children who were witnesses or victims of crimes.

Q21. How do punishments differ in criminology from the past?

A21. Punishments in criminology have changed a lot in the past few hundred years. In the past, punishments were a lot more physical and brutal than they are today.

In the past few years, there has been an increase in demand for social workers. And with the rise of more crimes in the recent times, the demand for correctional homes and the role of social workers have also risen.

Q23. How did you get into this field and what led you to become a social worker?

A23. I have always been interested in the human psyche and helping people. I was really good at math in high school and was accepted into a prestigious university for my undergraduate degree. I majored in mathematics because I thought it would be a good way to make money, but when I graduated, I realized that it wasn’t what I wanted to do with my life. So, I decided to become a social worker instead.

The field of social work is very rewarding and fulfilling because you are able to help people who need it the most. It’s not an easy job, but nothing is worth doing if it isn’t hard sometimes.

Q24. Which is the key theory that you use in your practice?

A24. Freudian theory is a key theory that I use in my practice. Freud believes that the human mind consists of different parts, including the id, ego, and superego. These three parts can be thought of as a form of personality or identity in which the id represents our desires and impulses, the superego represents our moral values and ideals, and the ego acts as a mediator (Elliott 2015).

A25. Social workers are the professionals that help people cope with difficult life circumstances. They assess and evaluate their patients in order to diagnose the problem and find a solution for it.

A social worker must first assess the situation of the patient. This is done by talking to them, asking questions and looking at their environment. The social worker then evaluates how severe the problem is by looking at how it affects other areas of their life, such as work or family. After this, they will come up with a plan to solve this problem and provide resources for this plan.

A26. Social workers are professionals who are dedicated to providing help and support to people who are in need of it. They work with individuals, families, groups, and communities. They try to solve social problems and promote social change.

The most common characteristic of a social worker is their dedication to helping others. This is what separates them from other professions in the field of psychology. Social workers have a passion for helping those who need it the most.

Social workers also have excellent communication skills which makes them great listeners and communicators. They also have good problem-solving skills which help them find solutions for difficult situations that arise during their work with clients or patients

Q27. What does a criminology social worker do?

A27. A social worker is someone who helps people who are in need. They do this by listening to the person, talking with them, and helping them to figure out what they need. Social workers are usually employed by public organizations such as hospitals, schools, prisons, and so on. Some social workers work for private organizations such as counseling centers or family service agencies.

The role of a criminology social worker is to help people who have been convicted of crimes or have committed crimes but have served their time in prison. The criminology social worker helps these individuals reintegrate into society and find a job that will help them stay out of trouble for the rest of their lives.

Choosing to work socially is a profession that makes our society a much better place to stay. It helps to better the well-being of the clients, families, and society as a whole. The social workers interact with their clients and families who are hailing from different backgrounds. But the social workers do not emphasize the differences, instead, they focus on comprehending human behavior which is backed by various theories and practice models. The social work practice along with the theories used work hand in hand and are indispensable to one another.
