Body: On the 13th of August, I selected my topic for the project as ‘Security and Encryption in Augmented Reality (AR) Glasses’. I believe that this is an important topic since this is one of the most prominent emerging technologies integrating digital information with wearable device providing a real time application of the data. Devices such as the Google glass have implemented such technology that allows seamless integration of information .

technology with wearable glasses through which the user can access digital data. These augmented reality glasses however have significant limitations in terms of data privacy as well as the architecture and designing of the glasses. Another challenge faced by the AR glasses is the acceptability of this wearable technology by the consumers. By researching on these challenges, I was able to identify that the most significant concern was related to data security and how security can be enhanced through encryption technologie

Body: On August 16th, I started to develop the work breakdown structure that will help me to identify and outline the different activities that needs to be covered in the project. The work breakdown also can help to ensure each task is done in a structured and timely manner and thus develop a structured approach to complete the entire project. I was able to complete the WBS in just 2 days, during which I was able to identify four phases of the project: planning, research, closure and reporting. In the planning phase, four activities have been identified such as the selection of the topic, proposal for the project, developing WBS and submitting the proposal and WBS for approval.

In the research phase, four activities were identified: Use case, research methods, developing annotated bibliography and submission of annotated bibliography. For the closure phase four activities were identified: preparing draft report, presenting the draft, preparing final report, completing the project. In the reporting phase, blog posting was the only action identified.

3. Project Proposal

Body: I started working on the project proposal on 17th August 2018. While working on the proposal, I was able to learn about the conceptual and technical framework for the study. The framework helped to develop an understanding of the learning, communication and technological underpinnings of the topic and how they can be effectively used to propose a design of a better AR glass that can overcome the challenges faced by the technology. In the proposal.

the aspects that were addressed includes the need of enhancing data security through encryption systems, the cognitive approach needed to design the AR glass and effective design and architecture of the glass that can offer flexibility, simplicity, fault tolerance and user-friendliness of the device. While developing the proposal, I also was able to learn the significance of each of these aspects in the design of the AR glass.

. WBS and project submission

Project Proposal

Date: 8/28/2018 to 8/29/2018

Body: I submitted the WBS on August 28th, and the project on August 29th, 2018. During the submission, I was able to interact with my team mates as well as the teachers, who provided me valuable insights about project submission and WBS development. Both the WBS and project proposal were approved by the authority, and I was appreciated for selecting a relevant and emergent technology which has a significant importance in the emergent IT market.

Moreover, I was also informed that the proposal was very informative and the background and context of the project was well researched. Thus it can be assumed that the proposal and WBS were on the right track, and following the outlined activities in WBS and the aspects identified in the proposal can help in the effective and successful completion of the project. I feel certain that

5. Research:

Date: 9/1/2018 to 10/11/2018

Body: The research work on the topic started on 1st August, 2018. I started by conducting expensive research and study on augmented reality glasses, and the current technological advances in AR glasses. Through the research it was possible to understand the challenges associated with this form of wearable technology as well as the potential advantages of the technology for the users. Various academic journals on the topic were available, which were selected to develop an annotated bibliography.

I also developed a use case that can help to understand the interaction between a goal and the activities to achieve that goal. After that the method for the research was identified followed by a study on the potential impact on the environment. I started with the annotated bibliography on 25th August, and it is still in progress after which the research queries needs to be developed to successfully complete the research process.

Comment: In progress. Proposed completion date: 10/11/2018.

6. Use case:

Date: 9/1/2018 to 9/6/2018

Body: The development for the Use Case for the project started on 1st September, 2018. During the development of the use case, the main goals and objectives of the project were identified after which the ‘primary actors’ or the responsibility of each member of the team for the project were highlighted. After this, the scope for the use case was determined that helped to understand its implementation process and the level of implementation was also determined all of which helped to describe the overall flow of the use case.

The use case developed for the AR system development included actors such as the 3D Designer, Screen Designer and Interaction designer who would create and change the user interface design of the AR device (goal 1). Other actors included the programmer who would implement the user interface (goal 2) and the usability engineer who would evaluate the product (goal 3) before the product is being dispatched for the user (final goal).

Comment: Completed on 9/2/2018.

7. Methods:

Date: 9/7/2018 to 9/14/2018

Body: Design of the methodology of the project study was started on 2nd September, 2018. During this stage, two types of methodologies were identified for developing effective security for the AR glasses, namely market-based methodology and market-less methodology. The market based approach is a traditional strategy through which technologies available in the market such as QR codes and was identified for the AR glasses to identify a digital image. The market-less approach helped to develop the methodology based on the application of the technology, and independent of its market.

WBS and Project Submission

The planning for system development was also done during this phase which helped to identify the role of the designer, programmer and usability engineer in the development of the final product. Additionally, the strategy for developing the AR model using 3D computer application was also developed for the study. Data collection methods were determined next during which two important problems to design the system were identified (process issue and missing tools) and three phases for the development of the model were identified (design phase, implementation phase and evaluation phase).

Ethical issues such as access to data, agreement from the end user, privacy of the user and potential harassment of the users have also been discussed. Additionally, strategies for data analysis were also identified (such as lower complex data, data visualization, iterative labels and color coding) to made sense of the data.

8. Environmental Impact:

Date: 9/14/2018 to 9/25/2018

Body: The study on the impact on the environment started on 14th September, 2018, during which I studied how the project can impact the environment. This step was necessary to ensure that the project followed environmentally sensitive protocols and involved environmental consciousness into the project. It was understood that the project did not impose any environmental threat, as the technology was based on existing wearable technology to be integrated with enhanced security and encryption practices. Such digital technologies have near zero environmental impact. However, the impact of the production of the wearable devices (AR Glass) did have impacts in term of emissions and usage of resources.

One extra day will be kept to allow a scope for adding any final feedbacks before the draft is presented for approval. The final presentation will provide all the information related to the design of the AR glass in a coherent, meaningful and practical way. The presentation will also be made in a professional manner, keeping in mind the academic standards and formatting standards as per the regulations of the industry. It is vital to note that the only after the approval of the final draft can the project proceeds to the next phase, and thus this is a significant step or milestone in the completion of the project in which the final draft is prepared based on which the final report can be prepared.

In these two days the final draft will be used to develop the final report, and any final amendments that need to be made to develop the report will be addressed. This will be the last step for the preparation of the report and allow scope for any further change to the report before submission. The two days should be sufficient for making the necessary changes to the assignment in my opinion, in which time .

I would have the opportunity to develop a comprehensive understanding of the design of the AR glasses. In the final report, the deliverables for the final design as well as the key recommendations for the design and implementation as well as the evaluation processes will be outlined that can help to guide the future steps in the project.
