Lack of diversity management in Fly Smart Company

This report is focused on the need of improvement in Fly smart company which is currently struggling in almost all the business operation of the company. The company is operation in many countries like Singapore, china, Vietnam and Australia. Fly smart company is performing normal in Austraila but its performance in all other countries are very bad or it is far below average. It is a clear cut case of lack of human resource management (Guest, 2011). This report will help the fly smart company to overcome from these issues and will also make sure that this kind of acts will not be performed again. This report will help the company in making action plan in order to achieve excellence in their business operation. The consultant of Human Connection Company will make sure that whatever action plan will be made should be followed strictly in the company in all countries. For bringing any change in the company, there is always need of capital and in this case the condition of the company is not good and hence budget available will not be enough and things have to alter with in the small budget (Jiang, Lepak, Hu & Baer, 2012). This small budget will also impact on the amount of resources which will be needed for this change and therefore each resource must be used in an efficient way. Currently company is facing lot of issues related to their performances, quality related problems, lack of understanding between employees especially between senior employees and new employees. The management is also creating a disrespectful environment for the disable candidates and also the employees are also facing issues related to their training when there are joining in other country branch of the company (Avey, Luthans & Jensen, 2009). Also there is not coordination with in the different branches of the company; each department is blaming one another for quality issues.

In present situation Fly smart is mainly facing two main issues which are contributing towards the dissatisfaction performance of the company on international platform. One is operation issues due to lack of diversity management and other is being disrespectful towards disable applicants.

The Fly smart company is clearly displaying the lack of diversity management in their business operation because there is actually no coordination in between senior employee and junior employee. Even the apprentice is not also treated well; there is always a fear of losing the position or restriction for promotion. As this company is currently in operation on international level which means that employees from various countries are supporting this business operation, even though the working environment is this company is not showing any support for diversity. Because of this lack of diversity in management interlink between the department are not running successfully which has impacted the quality of the product (Pitts, 2009). Due to quality related problems the members of the department are blaming each other for not supporting the  business operation and sometimes it seemed that they are happy with what they have achieved and don’t want any kind of improvement in their operation. Expect Australia, this kind of believes is getting spread in each branch of the company. Australia is performing because they are saying that they have great amount of pressure from the head quarter to providing quality product and appropriate performance appraisal system is also forcing them to achieve good quality or otherwise they would have also performed in the same in which china, Singapore and Vietnam is doing (Sabharwal, 2014).

Disrespectful treatment of disable applicants

It has been seen that Fly smart has shown their bad attitude towards the disable applicants. The recruitment department of the company has totally worked in unfair way in selecting new employees. The management has directly reject the applicants of many disable people because of their present condition without considering that these persons could be better from those persons whom the management has selected for not being disable. The management has clearly breached the law of the corporate governance (Rathore, New, & Iftikhar, 2011). It seemed that management of fly smart believe that if someone is disable, then that person can never be fit for any kind of job and hence there is no need to perform any kind of recruitment program for these disable persons which will save some of the operating cost of the company. In fact the management may have even thought that these people are not humans and therefore we don’t need to have any kind of empathy with them (Iezzoni & Long-Bellil, 2012). For the success of any business operation every company is always in need of talent because it is that competency which makes the company different from other companies and in this situation if the company is ignoring this most important aspect then there is no change for the company to implement efficiency in their business operation.

As the Fly smart company is operating internationally so there are numerous chances that the employees working in the company are from different countries having different values, believes, cultures and different working style (Ferreira & Otley, 2009). In short we can say company is working in a diversity work environment which means that there are many chances of clash between the employees from different background. Even there are many chances that employee will start developing hatred for each other due to disagree with each other on some decision because of their different values and believes (Kusic, Kephart, Hanson, Kandasamy & Jiang, 2009). In Fly smart company the management is actually suffering from this kind of diversity problem.

To overcome this problem an activity was being carried out which is known as danger of assumption. In this activity we have called all the employees of the company to make their participation in this activity. The purpose of this activity was to make all participants aware of making unnecessary prediction on other without knowing them (Heathershaw & Megoran, 2011). Here, as a consultant of company Human connection, role was to make a strong connection with each other. This activity was started with the help of piece of papers, pen and an index card. Each participant was told to write down their strength and weakness. Shuffled all the employees of each department with each other so that in any case participants will not be able to known each other behaviour.  A pen and index paper was provided to each member and told them to observe each other and write down all the positive observation of the index paper without revealing this observation to each other. Time for this activity was fixed to 15 minutes time and after time is over judge of the game will reveal results of this activity with all participants. Each member tried their best efforts to make a positive predication for each other. After 15 minutes, it was time for the result and before the result each participants were asked what kind of result they are expecting. Almost 87% of participant had full confidence about their observation. Each participant were called one by one and told them to announce loudly what they have written. To their surprise only 7% of participants were able to make almost correct observation while rest of all failed to manage. Then it was time to make them feel the real world (Kneer, Glock, Beskes & Bente, 2012). Then the most important role of consultant of Human connection came in to play, it was obvious that this activity had impact the confidence of almost each participant in this game so as a mentor or coach it was time to gain their confidence again and form a strong connection.

Coordination issues among departments of Fly Smart Company

This activity was done in the organization to make each member aware that it is not easy to make predication of another person without knowing them and what can be possible danger associated with assumption (Beyer, Brown, Akandi & Rapley, 2010). This activity was intentionally carried to remove the misconception about the ability of a disable person because from many time this organization is directly cancelling the application of many applicants just because of their disability. It is a natural law without interaction nobody can form any positive impact or observation about each other. Hence, the management of this organization has to implement one policy in which they will recruit their new employees on the basis of their talent not because of their physical observations (Hujer & Thomsen, 2010). In this way the company will be able to gain two benefits from this recruitment process, one is they will be able to attract most brilliant pool of applicant and another is they will be able to form a unique image in the market place to giving an impression that they are really caring about the disable community of this society in which they are operating their business operation. Also it will create an environment of bonding in the organization which will help the employees to form a coordination connection not only between employees but also between their various departments (Agovino & Rapposelli, 2012). This coordination with in the various departments will lead a respectful environment for the diversity which will directly improve the quality of the work with full efficiency.

It happens because he was not provider with the training by which he would be easily able to cope up with the new environment (Pulakos, Hanson, Arad & Moye, 2015). This long journey of adjustment has seriously impacted the efficiency of the business operation.
