In the very first day of my project management class I was introduced with my teacher who will be taking the class of us on the project management. After the basic introduction she presented the course overview of the project management. She demonstrated what we are going learn from that course. According to me from that course overview, after successful completion of this course I will be able to apply the essential components of the project management in a real-time business process. I thought from this learnings I will be able to integrate myself on project team and can take the roles and responsivity which the project requires for successful completion. I also learned the five process and the nine knowledge areas regarding the project management.

In the next stage of the learning we were working on the project to develop new services or some new products. In this stage we have prepared the project scope statement which was consisting requirements of the project, boundaries, milestone and the risks of the project. In this case the project statement actually consists the commitments made by the project and the how this commitments are going to fulfilled in the future stage of the projects. In any time during the execution of the project, the situation of the project can be changed. Thus to tackle this changes this project scope is very much useful, which I have learned from the assessment. Then we focused on the work break down structure of the project. This WBS helped us to understand what needs to be done in the project and also helped us to monitor the project.

In the next stage of the project management we were working on the framework of the project management. In this framework an important part was the project integration management. As per my learnings the project integration management is the group of processes which are important for combining, identifying and coordinating various of activates of the project management. The project integration method was consisting various of processes which was including development of the project charter, scope statement, project management plan, managing of executional plan and the monitoring and the controlling of the project. Also, integrated change control and the project closing was included in the project integration process. From the lessons I have learned all of these processes very briefly and I am confident now to implement them in an actual project. Also, risks about the project, I have learned briefly.

Step 2: Project Scope Statement and Work Breakdown Structure

The next stage was about the next part of the project management processes which was the project scope management. In this assessment first of all I learned about what is the project scope management. As per my learnings this is the process which is required for ensuring that the project is consisting all of the work which are need to be done to achieve the successful outcome of the project. The project scope management was consisting total five processes which were the scope planning, scope definition, WBS structure, verification of the scope and the control of the scope. I learned all of these processes briefly and by learning that I realise why these processes are so much important in the aspects of the project management.

The next stage was about the time management of the project which was an essential part of the nine knowledge areas of the project. From the basic learnings of this stage I understood that to become a very much essential project manager, first I need to be a very good time manager. Without perfect time management of the project I would not be able to carry forward a project much further. I have learned that there were total six processes which were related with the processes of the time management. These six processes were the activity definition, activity resource estimation, activity sequencing, schedule development, activity duration estimation and the controlling of the situation. I have assessed that the key of managing the time is, we need to convert it into a resource which is depleting in every moment and also need to identify the robbers of the time.

In the next stage of the project management the risk management of the project knowledge areas has been discussed. According to me, the management of the risks is very much important for the successful completion of the project otherwise surely the project will be going to be failed. The main processes of the project management are the risk management planning, identification of the risks, quantitative analysis of the risks, qualitative analysis of the risks, planning for the risk response and monitoring and controlling of the risks. From this chapter I have successfully identified what are the basic risks of the project. Also, I am able to classify and identify the risks regarding a project. I have learned how to implement various types of risk assessment techniques when to use this type of techniques. This assessment has given me the ability to compare the contrast of various types of risks and how to deal with each of these risks.

Step 3: Project Integration Management and Risk Management

The next lesson of the project management was about the management of the communication. Communication is very much essential for the project management. This is important because this helps to understand the stakeholders and help to build effective relationship with the stakeholders as the project stakeholders are one of the most important part of every project. The four main processes which are related with the project communication management. These four processes are the planning of communications, distribution of the information, reporting of the performance and the management of the stakeholders. From this chapter of the project management lessons now I can easily build the relationship for the projects. It helped me to understand the planning of the project communication. By understanding this now I am able to develop a project communication plan by my own. Also, now I am able to facilitate the meetings of the project and can understand the challenges regarding the communications.

In this stage I have learned the remaining areas of the project management process. These remaining areas include the cost management, quality management, HR management and the procurement management. From my learnings, the cost management is the estimating, planning, budgeting and controlling the costs of the projects to ensure that the project successfully complete within the assessed budget. From the assessment of the quality management I have learned that it is the activity of determining the policies of the quality. Also, this activity includes measurement of the quality responsibilities and the quality objectives so that the undertaken project is able to deliver the project outcome which satisfy the aim of the project. From the lessons of the HR management I have learned HR management is also important for successful completion of the project as it helps to manage and organise the teams of the project. Number and the type of the team members can impact the progress of the project. Thus the HR management is crucial. From the last chapter of this stage which was the procurement management, I have learned that it can ensure that the clients and the companies is able to understand the work which is requested for the project. Thus as for me this is one of the most important process of the project management.

Conclusion:

From the above discussion it can be conclude that the nine knowledge areas of the project management is very much crucial for the successful outcome of the project. From this learnings I have gained a vast information about the project management. Now I am perfectly able to understand how a project is initiated, executed and completed. I have successfully assessed how important the role of the project manager. The learnings have cleared all of my doubts regarding the project management. Various ideas regarding the project management is assessed by me. At the end of the assessment now I am confident that I can successfully handle a real time project using my learnings from the lessons of the project management.
