Reflective Report On Multi-Sourcing Strategy For Fonterra

Practical Application

Sourcing techniques are adopted by various organizations nowadays to reduce the cost of Information Technology in the recent times and also that would help in live up to the standards of the latest Information Systems utilized in the industry (Kerzner & Kerzner, 2017). Following would be a reflective report based on the multi sourcing strategy adopted by the organization of Fonterra, which is a leading dairy producing organization and the group work that has been done in the preparation of the project. The works that has been done so far would be personally reflected through the report followed by the justification of the project progression by the group. As a part of a group project in applying the multi-sourcing techniques and strategies, it is a notified fact that there must be a person present within the group to outline the entire project plan based on the resources available (Heagney, 2016). This part was done by me to make sure that the project outcome was entirely based on the resources available for the project and there were no added utilization of finances or resources from outside of the company. I had strictly focused on which are the resources that the organization frequently puts into use and how it can be innovated to make use of a multi sourcing technology into the organization.

Mostly, I have noticed that Fonterra has the ability to manage their finances well and the implementation of Information technology strategies in the organization so far has not been unsuccessful. Therefore, it had the capability of making use of the preferred finances to induce Information Technology strategies to lend their own sources to other organizations (Marchewka, 2014). The client company thus had the ability to outsource to other organizations as well. During this time, I found that the outsourced clients were only focused on specific expertises and were not focused on maintaining a unanimous approach towards the operations of the organization. For this purpose, I had thought of implementing a Rapid Application Development system within the project that would help in the quick establishments of the techniques. I believe that this would help in establishing the modules of the strategy implementation within the organization in a gradual way and would also take care of the modifications that the project needs during the time of progression (Nicholas & Steyn, 2017). I had based the entire project upon the business process of Fonterra that has been going on so far and the justified way in which this can be applied is by modifying the previous technology to make a new one. I had focused the entire project plan upon the forthcoming challenges that were impending with the modifications done on the traditional systems for Fonterra and I had also made a risk management plan based on that as well. Out of my entire project work, I would further present a justification on why has it been done and the justifications behind the entire project plan done.

Motivation and Justification

The fact that had motivated me to initiate the project has entirely been the advancement of a business process in a much more advanced technological environment which would only benefit the organization in lowering the cost of production and at the same time gets ahead of the other competitors in the market (Schwalbe, 2015). For this part I had strictly focused on which are the resources that the organization frequently puts into use and how it can be innovated to make use of a multi sourcing technology into the organization. As a result, I had thought of implementing a Rapid Application Development system within the project that would help in the quick establishments of the techniques since this would help in establishing the modules of the strategy implementation within the organization in a gradual way and would also take care of the modifications that the project needs during the time of progression. Having a unanimous approach for any added strategy within the organization is essential and for this purpose the RAD technique would ensure that the entire organization realized the latest addition to the business process.

I never thought of implementing any other idea or technique within the system because it would have a potential to restrict me or make me feel bound within the company resources. The kind of availability I had on taking the decisions I did for the project made me feel free in adding more and more company resources according to the project demands since the requirement of the planned changes were minimal (Binder, 2016). I had used such techniques that would take up as least resources as possible so that if any modification is required, the project would not go over budget or would not run out of company resources. In this way, I think I have justified the use of RAD technology in adding multi sourcing within the organization of Fonterra. With this, the following report would focus on the reflection on my own work that I have done to put forward a critical reflective approach.

The works that I have done so far for the implementation in the project made me learn that every project implementation should be based on the company resources and overshooting the specified budget plans should not be taken into considerations. I believe that the initial project plan should always be based on utilizing the company resources in the least amount so that if further modifications are needed in the project, it would not take up the resource of the organization over than it could make use of (Heldman, 2018).

The part that I found difficult in the project was the constriction of the project within the asset and resources of the company, but due to that the modifications required in the entire project has been much easier given the abundance of resources left after the constriction.

The fact that surprised me within the project planning was that I never thought of implementing any other idea or technique within the system (Hornstein, 2015). This is because; it would have a potential to restrict me or make me feel bound within the company resources. The kind of availability I had on taking the decisions I did for the project made me feel free in adding more and more company resources according to the project demands since the requirement of the planned changes were minimal.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it can be said that I have done a fairly proper implementation plan for the project for the organization of Fonterra dairy products. It has been based on the reflective report on the multi sourcing strategy adopted by the organization of Fonterra, which is a leading dairy producing organization and the group work that has been done in the preparation of the project. The works that has been done so far has been personally reflected through the report followed by the justification of the project progression by the group. The reflection has further been discussed with the self evaluation of the entire task and what position the process holds in individual discretion. This created a thorough idea about what was justified in my approach about the project and what were the difficulties that I faced as a result.
