Effective Business Communication implies the custom of sharing information and ideas relating to business amongst the individuals with a view to make the parties understand easily. The significance of an effective business communication is considered to be important owing to the reason that it helps the organizations to refrain from indulging in emergence conflicts among the members of an organization and strives to develop an environment, which shows efficiency and buils a trust among the employees of the organization in conducting the operations relating to the business (Cardon, 2014). The paper will strive to analyse the significant topics relating to the ten week activities and a thorough discussion relating to the communication among different cultures and the significance of it. It will also strive to mention the use of these two topics, namely the communication among different cultures and the stages of group development (Quintanilla & Wahl, 2018). This assignment will emphasize on the significance of certain concepts such as a discussion on the listening process, models of communication, curricular vitae and letters relating to employment, self-reflective essay, references, significance of communication among different cultures, approaches relating to public speaking, internal and external communication relating to an organization, stages of group development and different kinds of  the social styles of communication.

In the first week, I have learnt about the models relating to communication, which implies a schematic diagram presenting an exchange relating to inputs or the flow of information. The significance of learning the different kinds of models relating to communication lies in the development of an ability to identify the scope of a probable development of a noise within the effective fluidity of idea or information. In the second week, I learnt the fact that listening implies a process, which aids to gather and achieve information from a varied range of sources. The activity of this week developed a chance for me to achieve an idea relating to the probable limitations of effective listening, which includes overload, fast thinking, not entertaining, preoccupation, egocentrism, and familiarity. The 3rd week had enabled me to learn about the employment letter, which is regarded as a letter containing a statement of formal invitation to undertake a job in a company. The activities relating to this week  also made me learn about the curricula vitae which is regarded as a written statement regarding the information relating to the candidate who has applied for the job. The activity has enabled me to understand the method relating to the preparation of my application along with detailed emphasis on connecting my experiences and skills with the requirements of the employer.

Effective Business Communication

In the fourth week, I have learnt that references implies the acknowledgement of the works created by others and an extension of credit to them while incorporating ideas from their works in our creations. This activity will have a remarkable effect in making me aware of the conduction of the affairs in near future, which are unethical. In the fifth week, I have learnt the fact that a self-reflective essay implies a reflection relating to an activity or event in a written form. A self-reflective essay has an ample amount of importance in enabling me to evaluate the weaknesses and the strengths in my personality and in a way will aid me to improve my personality as well.  The lessons learnt in the sixth week is of great significance to me as it  confers me with the knowledge regarding the public speaking, which implies a factor of effective influence in the business communication relating to business in modern day and is in connection with the communication addressing to the public. This will have a significance upon future endeavours of my career and is a remarkable one as the activity has enabled me to learn the varied expressions and the phrases, which are required by me in portraying while addressing the public.

In the seventh week, I learnt that communication amongst the individuals belonging to different cultures, values of different societies and countries is regarded as the intercultural communication (Dai & Chen, 2014). The communication within different cultures will be of significant value for me in interacting and understanding with the people belonging to different cultures and different countries. In the eighth week, I learnt the fact that internal communication implies the form of communication, which occurs within an organizations and external communication implies a form of communication taking place outside the organizations. The internal communications includes letters, emails or the reports regarding business while the external communications includes events effecting promotions and activities relating to marketing. Thus, this activity will be of great importance to me as it helps me to understand both the kinds of communication that needs to be applied in my career. In the ninth week, I learnt that the group development implies a pivotal concept relating to a team work, which is effective. The group development implies an activity which engages a group of individuals. In my career, the skills relating to group development as a remarkable importance in my career as it enables me to form a team, which have the ability to get success while conducting their operations. In tenth week, I learnt the styles relating to the socio communication that implies representation of the methods of social communication. This activity is of significance to me as it will help me to understand the different styles relating to communication like responsiveness, assertiveness, flexibility, expressive and analytical. The understanding in connection to the aspects will enable me to implement the same.

Lessons Learnt in Ten Weeks

The intercultural communication implies one of the most significant concept relating to the business communication of modern day. The rising effect of globalization in the organizations of modern day, employees of diverse backgrounds, values of societies and cultures are employed. In the employing of the employees in an organization, the main requirement for the business organizations in modern day is the skills and competence  of the employees and not their culture or nationality (Samovar et al., 2014). Therefore, the employees in an organization are required to have representatives of different countries, values of society and cultures.

The intercultural communication implies a study of communication among individuals belonging to different social groups and cultures (Sorrells, 2015). Important topics that needs to be examined in the intercultural communication includes creation of cultural sensitivity, prior assessment of the meaning of the messages that will be received by an individual, careful conveyance of such messages and selective transmission of such messages (Liu, Volcic & Gallois, 2014).

The intercultural communication relating to an organization has been witnessed to face considerable amount of problems in introducing the concept relating to the cultural shock and the experience of the same (Neuliep, 2017). The employees belonging to other cultures are more likely to be subjected to the effect of cultural shock in an ample amount as compared to the ones belonging to the host nation (Piller, 2017). In such circumstances, different activities engaging employees are found to be the most appropriate practice which has the effect of cultural assimilation within the employees connected with an organization (Baker, 2015).

I have the aspiration to become an operations manager of a global organization in the near future. The competence of dealing with individuals is necessary for achieving the same. The goal that I wish to achieve will require me to manage the employees successfully. The global organisations provide for a representation to the individuals belonging to different cultures, which will make effective communication difficult for me to implement. The activities will be helpful to me in a significant manner while assessing the methods that I can implement in practical situations in communicating with the employees effectively. The activity also enabled me to face negotiations that is a part of my operations. It helped me in understanding the collectivist and individualistic theory and to communicate with the individuals belonging to such society.

In my position as an operations manager, I would be required to manage a team of individuals as a leader of the same. This will need a formation of group and team of individuals. This assessment has enabled me to perform the same in an efficient manner (Knight, Kennedy & McComb, 2016). This activity has helped me to exchange information and understand the opportunities with the members in the procedure of establishing a goal, which is mutually agreed.

Conclusion:

It can be concluded that, this assignment has analysed the lessons learnt in ten weeks focussing on the listening process, models of communication, curricular vitae and employment letters, self-reflective essays, references, intercultural communication and its significance, approaches relating to public speaking, external and internal communication relating to an organization, different styles of socio communication and stages of group development. In addition to that, this assignment provided with an ample amount of information relating to the intercultural communication and the stages relating to the model of group development. Hence, it will enable me to understand the different topics that has been included in my weekly lessons. Therefore, the paper is of utmost importance in the expression of the skills and knowledge that have been gathered by me through these weekly lessons.
