The Concept of Culture and Society

Culture consists of the beliefs, behaviors, objects, and other characteristics common to the members of a particular group or society. Through culture, people and groups define themselves, conform to society’s shared values, and contribute to society (Williams, 2017). In this report, human right them is selected because human rights is considered significant for the culture as well as society. Therefore human rights are the moral ethics, philosophies, principles which defines the particular standards of human activities, actions and behaviors (DiGiacomo, 2016). In this, human right in relation with the issues of social and cultural diversity is discussed. The importance of human rights in values, belief and academic perspective is also analyzed.

In my perspective, human rights contain significant rights which is relate to the culture which includes rights to contribute in the cultural life etc. The countries establish various human rights so that no discrimination is made among diverse culture groups. The government of New Zealand introduces the human right Act to decrease the cultural diversity because of different culture, ethics, and philosophies in New Zealand (Gunasekara & Singh, 2017). I believe that this human right is developed due to reduce the unlawful discrimination, unfair treatment due to differences in the age, gender religious belief as well as ethics. The human rights in relation to the culture protects the basic rights of the person which includes right to provide appropriate living standard as well as social security to all the citizens of the society without differentiation (DiGiacomo, 2016). Therefore, human rights in relation to the concepts of culture provide equal rights to all the community in the society.

According to me there is relationship between the human rights as well as culture and society because of equality in the society. The several laws were made by the different countries it is due to diversity in the ethics of population. In New Zealand there are different types of culture which includes Maori culture which is the community of indigenous Aboriginal, Pakeha culture these are the British people and other several ethnic community (Lyver, Akins, Phipps, Kahui, Towns, & Moller, 2016). Therefore due to different types of culture in New Zealand government develops the declaration working team in the year 2019.   This team supports the government regarding the planning for providing rights to the indigenous community to develop and progress them. Therefore the several rights were also developed due to equality in the diverse culture which includes providing information about the sign language as well as several amendments was made in the Act of human rights 1993 (De Bres, 2015).

Issues of Social and Cultural Diversity and Change

According to me there are various issues in the diversity of social and cultural factors which includes lack of getting accepted because of different cultures and moral values among the people in the society. Therefore, acceptance also includes respect of the individual in society; the other challenge contains challenge regarding the differences in the ethics and values because of people from the different backgrounds, religion etc (Williams, 2017). However, there are various challenges in the society which is considered the social issue which includes inequality in the gender, disabilities as well as generation gap and languages it is because in New Zealand the native language among the people in the society is not English (Romaine, 2015). I believe that the other changes also contain amendments in the ethical and traditional norms of the society that is New Zealand because of different culture community in the society such as Maori, Pakeha there are differences in their customs and traditions.

In my perspective there is association between the human rights and the problems faced by the people live in the society because it describes the commitment regarding the rights of the human as well as their fundamental basic freedom in the society. I think that due to providing rights to the human there is equality in the society, protection in the cultural interests and increase in the value of diverse people and tradition. In New Zealand government takes various initiatives to provide the equal opportunities for all the communities’ members as well as to increase their acceptance and status in the society (De Bres, 2015). The laws were made by the government New Zealand government which is “New Zealand Bills of Rights Act” and various Acts were amended that is “Human right Amendment Act 2016” (Egoz, Makhzoumi, & Pungetti., 2016).  Therefore, there are link between the human right with that of diversity in the society and culture due to encourage the lifestyle of the people.

Human right is important in my values and beliefs because it provides several rights regarding the right to thought, religion and belief which includes that it give the right of freedom to have different culture and belief. The human rights also protect from the discrimination among the religion and culture. It also gets connected with the various other rights for the equality and human dignity which includes provide right to the parents for bringing their children in their culture (Lyver, Akins, Phipps, Kahui, Towns, & Moller, 2016). It also helps in protecting the children due to differentiation and discrimination. Human right is important because it supports the person to satisfy the fundamental and basic requirements of individual in the society as well as provide protection to live in the society with freedom by following their customs, philosophies and defend against by abuse through other people in the society (Romaine, 2015). However, there is still issue regarding the individual being accepted in the organization, which is considered the part of the society.

The Importance of Human Rights in Relation to Values, Beliefs and Identity

In my perspective, human right of getting acceptance in the workplace needs improvement because of differences in the culture, tradition there is inequality among several organizations (Cram & Mertens, 2016). This helps in increasing the values among the people of the organization and encourages cultural diversity in the workplace. However, through this increases the respect of the person in the organization increases and accepted the person. Therefore, it can be addressed by raising the understanding regarding the other culture and philosophies. In the workplace organization can adopt and make use of the resources which is familiar with the other cultural groups. Therefore to understand the value, belief and culture other person, individual can listen and accepts the behavior of different cultural community. This will helps in increasing the human rights among the different cultural groups and encourages the diversity of cultural in the society as well as also in the organization.

Human right is applied in my academic discipline perspective because it provides training, knowledge which helps in increasing the entire culture regarding the human rights. It also helps in increasing the skills, abilities and provides support in adopting the human right in the daily life (Mikaels, Backman, & Lundvall, 2016). Therefore my institution follows the right to express the behavior and attitudes in which every individual is free to speak and free to put their ideas because it believe that human rights is for every people and all are equal due to the member of the society. Institution follows the philosophy of equality as well as non-discrimination by focusing on the belief of interdependence as well as universality. The institution provide the knowledge and follows the role of respect, protect as well as to fulfill the culture, rights and ethics of other person. Therefore it also provides the opportunity to increase the values of human rights, promote them to participates and improve the environment of learning which is free from the troubles and challenges (De Bres, 2015).

In my perspective, other academic disciplines make the policies, procedure as well as which is based on providing education about the human rights. The other academic disciplines follow the tools and techniques which help in getting information about the values of human rights. It helps in getting the knowledge about the diverse culture and increases the values as well as respect among the different cultural communities (McKEE, 2017). I believe that other academic institutions also follow the policy of fairness, this leads in developing the equal opportunities, team work as well as respect among all the people.

Conclusion

From the above it is concluded that human rights is considered the values through which defines the behavior of individual. There is link between the human rights and cultural because it helps in reducing the discrimination among the different cultural groups. Therefore, due to various challenges human rights support in increasing the participation, equality, diversity of background. Human rights also leads in developing the connection with the principles as well as values it is because of providing the freedom of  right to be in any religion and can follow any principles and ethics. Therefore human right is also important in academic perspective due to high participation, decrease in discrimination etc.
